Zaburzenie polegające na unikaniu/ograniczaniu przyjmowania pokarmów (ang. avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, ARFID) to ciężkie zaburzenie odżywiania, które nieleczone, podobnie jak jadłowstręt psychiczny i bulimia, prowadzi do poważnych konsekwencji zdrowotnych oraz znacznego pogorszenia jakości życia chorego, życia rodzinnego i społecznego. Zaburzeniu niejednokrotnie towarzyszą inne problemy psychiczne, takie jak zaburzenia lękowe, depresyjne, zespół nadpobudliwości psychoruchowej z deficytem uwagi (ang. attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, ADHD) czy zaburzenia obsesyjno-kompulsywne. Statystycznie częściej diagnozuje się też ARFID u pacjentów z zaburzeniami ze spektrum autyzmu. Złożoność problemów związanych z tą chorobą wymaga interdyscyplinarnego podejścia diagnostyczno-terapeutycznego. Terapia jest możliwa, również w naszym kraju, wymaga jednak dużego zaangażowania, czasu i cierpliwości ze strony pacjenta, rodziny, otoczenia i terapeutów.

Abstract:
ARFID (avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder) is a severe eating disorder, if left untreated, like anorexia nervosa and bulimia, leads to serious health consequences and a significant deterioration of the patient’s quality of life, family and social life. Avoidant /restrictive food intake disorder is often accompanied by other mental problems, such as anxiety disorders, depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or obsessive-compulsive disorder. ARFID is also significantly more frequently diagnosed in patients with autism spectrum disorders. The complexity of the problems associated with this disease requires an interdisciplinary diagnostic and therapeutic approach. Therapy is possible, also in our country, but it requires a lot of commitment, time and patience on the part of the patient, family, environment and therapists.
